Apolo-what?

Apologetics is not as complicated as it sounds. It is a simple legal term with the definition reading: to have a systematic, reasonable, and logical defense for what you believe. But within the Christian faith it is considered a branch of theology that is something to be worked out and developed to help you and others understand the why behind what you believe. It is also necessary to the life of every believer because we are told that we should have an answer for the hope that is in us (1 Peter 3:15; the apologist’s life verse).

Whether you grew up in a church or not, most everyone has asked difficult life questions at some point or another and struggled to find someone who is willing to spend the time to answer your questions or to help you research the answers if they didn’t already have them. The study of apologetics strives to have answers for the difficult questions of the faith. An apologist is not always going to have the right answers, but the goal is to know what questions to ask to discover the truth or to know where to look to find it.
